This study researched the role that promotion and prevention goals play in determining the impact of positive and negative role models on motivation. Our research choused subjects from the young(15-17 years old ). In order to explore the role of promotion and prevention goals play in determining the impact of role models on motivation, this research took both experimental measure and psychology measurement at the same time.In our 3 studies, we try to demonstrate that individuals are motivated by role models who encouraged strategies that fit their regulatory concerns: Promotion-focused individuals are most inspired by positive role models; prevention-focused individuals are most inspired by negative role models. Studies 1 and 2 , used 2×3 designs and used two kinds of priming techniques, examined the impact of situationally induced goals. We fist primed promotion and prevention goals, and then examined the impact of role models on motivation. Participants' academic motivation was increased by goal-congruent role models but decreased by goal-incongruent role models. Studies 3, we examined the impact of individuals' chronic regulatory focus on the types of role model that they recalled when asked to describe someone who had inspired them. Participants were more likely to generate real-life role models that matched their chronic goals. Our research explored the decisive impact of individuals' focusing goals play in the impact role models on motivation, which gives important implications to our education and other disciplines ongoing education of role model.
