This thesis focuses particularly on the manifold impact of street culture in late Ming Dynasty in regard to the art style of book design. In late Ming Dynasty, the spring up of street culture as well as the dramatically increasing readers, the popularity of mass literature, all aggravated the fading out of the old book design style, which was descended from the period of Song and Yuan. A varied, time-epoch book design style emerged in response to the new layout, illustration, worker-saving and time-consuming Mingjiang style, together with the advertisement-like inside cover. The new mass-oriented design style contributed a lot to the perfection of book patterns in our country.
