| Intoning substance poems of Mei Yaochen in the Northern Song Dynasty was chose as major observational target in this paper. I made every effort to grasp his writing affairs, such as writing period, thinking content, artistic style. And based on preceding efforts, I made attempt at making an objective and just appraisal about Mei's describing objects.The paper was divided into four chapters, wrote basically according to his writing affairs, arranged in the order of entire summary, writing period, thinking content, artistic style.The first chapter was named after The development of intoning substance poems and Mei Yaochen's writing affairs. After the ordinary definition of intoning substance poems was made definite, the concrete scope of Mei's intoning substance poems was identified, the object of study of this paper was determined. Then beginning with The Book of Songs, it was sketched, the developing and evolving trace of intoning substance poems before the Song Dynasty. The overall writing affairs of Mei's intoning substance poems was summarized.The second chapter was named after The official career and inditing of Mei Yaochen's intoning substance poems. In the second chapter, his intoning substance poems writing in about thirty years were divided into different period. Four stages were divided according to his official career and writing affairs, the first stage, from Tiansheng 9th year to Jingyou 2nd year; the second stage, from Jingyou 3rd year to Qingli 4th year; the third stage, from Qingli 5th year to Jiayou 1st year; the last stage, from Jiayou 1st year to Jiayou 5th year. The precise respective time of these stages were 5 years, 10 years, 10 years, 5 years. But as far as concrete description in every stage was concerned, life career, thinking transition, poem content and artistic style etc. were mixed, weren't divided in detail.
