Grass-roots Psychology In Huang Yunji's Novels

In the nowaday Chinese-American literary world, a grass-root cultural group is growing up. The writers of this group have lived and struggled in the bottom of American society for long time. Their creatures of literature depended on their own hard working so the living surrounding and feelings of grass-root American Chinese are deeply described. At the same time, their social roles lead them to have the special grass-root psychology.This paper would analyze the how the psychology of Chinese American changed based on Huang's creatures and psychological changing. For the former, Huang described both the oversea Chinese's embarrassed living condition in the physical level and their persevering will for survival in the mental level by many small characters in the China-down in his novels. At the same time, the influence on Chinese-American society caused by the political and cultural relationship between China and America have also been shown in his production. Therefore the suffering and striving history of early oversea Chinese was written out; the Chinese-American's reputation was rectified by the contribution of the forepart Chinese-American. For the later, Huang has a more exoteric psychology and could grasp the living-change history of America Chinese in a magnificent angle, which are shown it in his productions rightly, for his experience of becoming the San Francisco's Chinese leader from the bottom emigration and the opportunities to having more social activities.In Huang Yunji's production, magnificent narrative and personal narrative intercrossed and his personal psychology is integrated into the creations. The exclude-struggle-inosculate emigration history of Chinese-American was reemerged. Meanwhile, the history of psychology-changing of American-Chinese society in the different period is shown. In this paper, all these subtle but real existence would be discussed, and the psychology changing history of Chinese in the grass-root class of the Chinese-American literature in a multi-race would also be studied.
