Ci as classical poetry conforming to a definite pattern bloomed in Tang and Song Dynasty exerting great influence on Chinese classical literature. The narrative ci is a small part of it but still deserving attention for its diversifying the kinds of ci. During the study I focused on the collection of narrative ci of Tang and Song Dynasty and concentrated the discussion on its artistic techniques and aesthetic characteristics.The paper is composed of five parts. The first part is the definition of the narrative ci. The second is the narrative ability of it. For a long time ci is considered as a lyric literary form and its narrative ability is doubted. In this chapter I will explore its traits of lyric narrative style. The third part is the longest chapter of the dissertation. I will discourse upon the structure and expressive skills of the narrative ci. As to the narrative mode this kind of ci adopts the jumping scenes to telling the process of a story. And its writers also were good at managing varied expressive techniques such as using the scenery to telling the feeling of the lovers. The fourth part is the wording and phrasing of the narrative ci. As we know ci absorbed the oral folk phrases, in narrative ci a lot fresh oral expressions are widely used especially in short dialogues.
