The thesis focused on the English-major Uygur learners' learning styles preferences and the correlation between their learning styles and their English achievement in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The author used questionnaire to collect data from the 66 English-major Uygur learners in Foreign languages College in Xinjiang Normal University, then adopted the statistic software SPSS 14.0 to analyze the data and the major findings are as follows.English-major Uygur learners have a multiple learning style preferences, kinesthetic style is most preferred and the individual-oriented style is the least preferred; significant differences exist between male and female English-major Uygur learners in some learning style modalities, male Uygur learners prefer the tactile and individual-oriented learning, while female Uygur learners prefer the group-oriented learning; there is relatively little correlation between the learners' learning style preferences and their English achievement.Based on the major findings, some suggestions are offered: English teachers should select textbooks and curricula according to learners' learning style preferences; English teachers should raise the awareness of learning styles and help learners be aware of their learning style preferences and diagnose the learners' learning style preferences; English teachers should diversify their teaching methods and strategies to meet the style preferences of different learner groups and to match their teaching styles to the learners' learning style to the most degree.
