Turandot is a typical cross-cultural text, which was created and evolved in the west, and finally transplanted in China. During the process, the original text The Thousand and One Days, Turandot written respectively by Gozzi, Schiller and Puccini, and Chinese Princess DuLanduo by Chinese writer Wei Minglun are the most representative.There are two different viewpoints on The Thousand and One Days -the original text of Turandot in the academia: orient-origination theory and west-origination theory. This thesis is inclined to the latter and tries to expound the rationality of the viewpoint from history condition, author's status and text content.There're commonness and difference on the character of Turandot in Chinese and western texts. The commonness is on Turandot's appearance, and the difference is on her personality. There're three kinds of Turandot: self-partial but virtuous one, fierce and cruel one and pure-hearted and virtuous one.Meanwhile, the images of China are evolved in three different ways: from illegible to perspicuous, from charming to unenlightened, and from imaginary to real.In the multi-cultural era nowadays, there're practical significances to study the cross-cultural texts of Turandot by using post-colonialism criticism. The consideration of west-centered standpoint and culture misunderstanding problems pointed out in the thesis would be helpful to realize the cultural diversity and multi-cultural co-existence.
