Mysticism In Xuxu's Romantic Novels

Xu xu was a unique writer in modern Chinese literary world. He not only wrote poetry, fiction, drama, essay but also good at them. He was a literary genius. Especially he was famous for his fiction. Obviously his early fictions were influenced by the left-wing literature. His fictions expressed his discontentment and protest. His creation tend to realism. While he did not continue this way, he completed a direction change very soon. He thought highly of the ideal sex and love in romantic ways. In the Chinese literary world in the 1940s which was full of wars, Xuxu strongly canonized romanticism in his novels. Especially the mysterious trend in his works permeated an enchanting charisma which made him famous at one stroke. But he was criticized by most of the critics at the same time. This contradiction then leads to my following topic: Mysticism in Xuxu's romantic novels.The application of mysticism is very complicated and it has very close relationship with the literature. However in the cultural field of China,in the first half of the 20th century , scientism and rationalism were advocated. Mysticism existed as an evil,but this didn't mean that the literature of this period completely had nothing to do with Mysticism. After all,literature is a kind of spiritual action of free individuals. Those veriest free creators who think much of experiencing individual life could also break the main trend influence,and keep talking to their so-called god. Xuxu was one of those people. This paper is going to start from the mysticism of Xuxu's romantic novels,and analyze some of his works literally. The acute feelings of mysticism will help us to explore the live people behind the works and to trace the writer's thinking and standpoint during creation so that we can understand the way the writer think of the world and the spiritual persuing of the writer.
