Beicun-another Way Of Interpretation

This dissertation begins with the interpretation of the writer Beicun's novels. Combining the writer's own life experience, the dissertation tries to analyze the reasons that cause the huge changes of the writer's writing style. The interpretation and analysis of Beicun's novels might be useful to provide more possibilities to explore the world of the novles and the writer himself. From a "Vanguard writer" who was lost in the game of the language to a "traditional writer" who emphasizes more on the story-telling, Beicun has experienced huge spiritual changes. Will Beicun's case provide a good example for us to think inward? The interpretation of Beicun in a new way provides us a new angle to think: where is our spiritual home? And this is the major meaning of reading Beicun.The main text contains four parts which include the analysis of the change of Beicun's writing style, the interpretation of Beicun's novels, the role that Beicun's played in contemporary Chinese literature and the impact of Christianity on Chinese culture and its meaning to China.Part one"why do you change your writing style, Beicun?" The "traditional" explanations for Beicun's change is "personal reasons". I will try to seek out the inward and more complicated reasons that cause Beicun to withdraw from Vanguard writing.Part two"sin, love, faith-Beicun's religious interpretation and salvation" Sin,love and faith are the topics that we always see in the Bible. We can conclude Beicun's writing in the three words -sin,love, faith. From a sinner to a believer, what has Beicun experienced in his soul?Part three"Beicun's role in contemporary Chinese literature—vanguard still" Most critics describe Beicun as a "holy writer" because he is a writer with belief. Is that a fair judgment? It's important to give a writer a fair comment. We have to see his limit while we have noticed his important role in contemporary literature.Part four "the significance of Christianity and its salvation to China" Beicun's salvation for Chinese is Christianity religion. In a non-religious land like China,how much can Christianity influnce the country and its people? Will Christianity and traditional Confucian exist in complete harmony in China? I will try to seek a spiritual way out for contemporary China and the Chinese who have lost their souls in modernality.To me,the significance of reading and analyzing Beicun and his novels is I could find a way out of my own spiritual maze. Beicun has provided us a good example of breaking through the spiritual enclosure. We have to ask ourselves: what should we do when we face sufferings in lives and loss of hopes? Do we still have the courage to bear all these sufferings and pains? Whatever, we need a way out.
