The Study On The Text Of Liezi

The scholars argue the question whether Liezi is a false book or not for a long time . Its ideological content and the literature achievement have not been emphasized. Based on the viewpoint that Liezi is not a false book,this paper tries to review the course of producing of Liezi and discuss its ideological content,the artistic achievement and the influence. This paper divides into five parts.The first part. Introducing Liezi . Liezi is the father of Liezi school, but there was an argument about whether there was Liezi in history or not. Established in the reliable historical data, this paper makes it sure that Liezi is a real man .Also this paper makes an introduction about his name, the year he bornd and died, his nationality, his status, his teachers,his pupils and so on in brief.The second part. Reviewing the course of producing of Liezi. the text of Liezi had already formed in Pre-Qin Dynasty.In Han Dynasty ,Liuxiang revised the Classics and Zhuzi,thus many parts of Liezi were collected.Liuxiang put them together and neatened them. But the preservation of the ancient book is a hard thing , "Liezi" was nearly damaged in Dong Jin Dynasty. Fortunately by the laborious collection of Zhangzhan, Liezi was saved again. Because of the difficulty ,Liezi is unavoidably mixed something aftertime,but we should not deny it is a book of Zhuzi . This part proposes some opinion about the dispute of Liezi too,this article reckons the evidence that "Liezi" is a false book is unreliable.The third part. Elaborating the ideological content of Liezi. Liezi is the work about early Huang Lao Thought. Its theory on universe creating endues the universe source"Dao"with the material significance by"Qi". Its philosophy of life advocates man is the most valuable thing in the world and emphasizes lives joyfully, man should not be afraid of the death,it regards the death for a lifestage. Liezi argues the theory of Guixu and Chihou ,In politics Liezi has inherited"the inactivity"theory of Laozi, proposes Guizheng theory. Some scholars thought Lieze includes the Buddhist thought and carnalism, this paper does not agree with this view.The fourth part. Artistic achievement of Liezi. As a Zhuzi ,Liezi is not the literary work that later generation defined, but undoubtedly there is some literature factors in Liezi. This part will analyze its artistic achievement from the angle of the structure, language, characterization, fable etc.The fifth part. The influence of Liezi. In the first place, as an earlier work of Huang Lao Thought, Liezi has a profound influence on Huang Lao Thought.Some representative of Huang Lao Thought once directly or indirectly benefited from Liezi. Liezi is a Classics book of Taoism. In the second place , in the history of literature, the fable of Liezi is extremely famous. Fable of future generations had be inspired by its artistic technique.Also it became some of the story material of novels later.
