Harbored in Liu Qingbang's graceful and fierceful artistic style ,the tragic consciousness palys to its full potential, which paves the way for the social phenomena described in his works .This paper mainly discusses the tragic consciouness and its constitution conveyed in Liu Qingbang 's fictions. Almost all his masterpieces are tragedies, in which he always excavates the components of the characters' tragic fate from a unique angle of view. Therefore, the tragic visul angle is the key to interpreting Liu Qingbang 's fictions.Apart from the introduction and conclusion, this paper consistis of three parts:Part I. expounds the connotation and expression of the tragic consciousness displayed in Liu Qingbang's fictions. Concretely speaking, the consciousness of tragedy is represented in the following three aspects: probing into humanity the excavation of the inferiority and vulnerability of human beings, conveying Liu's serious thought upon humanity and the call for a health one ; his great concern about affectional conditions of Chinese women of lower social positions, disclosing their unfortunate lives that have been concealed by political discourse since this country's foundation ; on the dilemma of countrymen 's squeezing into the cities, exposing the difficulties of Chinese urbanization course.Part II. points out that there are various factors that have caused the characters' tragedy in the fictions . These factors maily fall into three categories. Firstly is about the lack of fulfiled surviving desire : with the unique discourse style and humanistic caring, Liu shows his great concern and sympathy for those who live under both material and mental pressures, and describes vividly their perplexities and rebels against the evil society ,and even their despair and extreme behaviour.;Secondly, due to a traumatic childhood, Liu is likely to write about the disservices of many young boys and girls ' in their growth , and their anxiety and puzzlement.;The third point is closely ralated to the being of onlookers which was regarded as one of the national people's inferiorities by Lu Xun's age. Pathetically , Liu Qingbang discovers that although Lu Xun's age had gone, the onlookers still act as the merciless killers without blood everywhere.Part III. probes into the inner factors that have caused Liu Qingbang's tragic consciousness from his origin , family background ,his social conditions, and his personality, etc. His unique life experiences not only provides the very special objects for his art, but also forms that melancholy and solitary writing style and aesthetic orientation of his. This invisible and automatic consciousness is integrated into Liu Qingbang 's whole works, and displayed as a particular tragic atmosphere and a kind of pitiful emotions in the aesthetic perspective.
