English listening is one of the most classes of Enlgish teaching in colleges. Englishlistening can solve the basic issue of what to hear and, how to hear by training theundergraduates'listening ability. In order to improve the undergraduates' listening ability formaximum and search out the more advanced and scientific strategies for the teaching ofEnglish listening, This thesis is about the study on advance organizers.120 undergraduates in Shenyang Vocational. Computer College were examined during theexperiment whose purpose was to examine the effects of advance organizers strategies onundergraduates' listening comprenhension. They were divided into four groups which, areadvace organizers with pictures, words, and pictures and words and one with backgroundinformation. The result indicated as follows:(1) The three advance organizers were remarkable effects on undergraduates'listeningcomprehension, therefore, teachers can put the strategy of advance organzier into the Englishlistening teaching to imrpove the ability of listening comprehension.(2) Advance organizer with pictures and words had an remarkable effect on theundergraduates' listening comprehension, however, advance organizer with pictures on worsdoes not.(3) The effect on undergraduates' listening comprehension was related to their intrinsiclistening ability, With The three advance organizers, the listening comprehension of commonand slow undergraduates was improved remarkably, however, top ones made less.
