The pronoun is a special notional word in Chinese.It plays an important role in ancient Chinese sentence, the research of which spurs on the study of exegesis of words, structures of phrases, types of sentences in ancient Chinese sematics and grammar. An exhaustive research has been made on its grammar traits based on the pronoun in Guoyu.There are 41 pronouns in Guoyu.The quantity is much more than that of Jiaguwen. According to the function,they can be divided into three groups which constitute the whole pronoun system: personal pronoun(11), demonstrative pronoun (16), interrogative pronoun(14). Each of the group has several subdivisions. Besides the quantity, frequency and setence function of each group,we also analyze the single, plural of the personal pronoun as well as inquiry function of the interrogative pronoun.The abundant vocabulary, pronouns acting as sentence members and the diversity of sentence patterns, manifest the characteristics of Chinese during the period of the pre-qin.We have paid more attention to study the double object setence and the setence which object lays before the verb or preposition . For example,we have described in details the double object setence from several respects.We have compared Guoyu with Zuozhuan and other important pre-qin ancient books. For example, we can see the change of"Mo"from pronoun into adverb in Guoyu. We make an attempt at correcting the Wei Notes as well as the ideas of scholars'. For instance,"Si"in Guoyu is no longer a pronoun. Furthermore, the uncertain pronoun"shui"has already appeared. We also discuss the words closely related to the pronouns. We reveal the grammatical features of pronouns comprehensively in Guoyu with a view to supplying some useful information for its study.
