| Taoism is a Chinese traditional religion which takes "Dao"as the highest belief, Its creation has a long history, itseffect can go back to ancient times. Hunan is a Chinese inlandprovince, whose Taoists,Taoism culture has the distinct localcharacteristics and nationalism. Taoism's spreading to Hunanwas owing to material conditions such as geography,ecology,product and so on, and the Wu culture, FangXianDao culture,Huanglao thought was also its cultural origin and thoughtfoundation. Taoism entered Hunan since the end of East HanDynasty, it sprang up step by step and developed slowly. DuringWei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties, Taoism was alreadybrilliant. There were many famous Taoists and Taoist temples,Taoism thought immediately produced a great influence onliterati and officialdom.
