Since the 1970s, the emphasis of foreign language teaching has shifted from teacher-centered process to student-centered process. In recent years, more effective teaching methods are required in English teaching reform of our country. According to educational psychology, affective factors have a great influence on learning; different attitudes, motivation, and personalities affect learning outcomes.With the development of social economy, more and more people pay attention to primary school English education. In our country, primary school English teachers, especially those in most rural and underdeveloped areas, are mainly from secondary normal schools. However, in secondary normal schools, English major students' English is not good, and with poor teaching environment, the level of primary school English teachers fostered in such schools is a bit low. In this paper, the author, on the basis of achievement made by educators both at home and abroad, used affective teaching methods in TEFL of English majors in secondary normal schools to improve students' English level.This paper includes five chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the development and the status quo of affective teaching and English majors in secondary normal schools, and the meaning of AT application to TEFL of secondary normal school English majors. Chapter 2 is a research in the theory of affective teaching, consisting of basic concepts and theory foundations. Chapter 3 is the focus of this paper, discussing the experiment on English majors of Anhui Feixi Secondary Normal School. In this part, the author explains the experimental process in detail. Comparing students' affective attitudes before and after the experiment, the author draws a conclusion concerning advantages of affective teaching and the influence on English major students in secondary normal schools. Finally, the author discusses some problems existing in this research. The last chapter is the conclusion.With the development of society and economy, there are more and more educators who have noticed the affective aspect of education. Affective teaching has shown its unique characteristics and its prominent advantages in teaching practice. The author hopes that this research can give some advice to other teachers and educators on the promotion of affective teaching in TEFL of English majors in secondary normal schools.
