| This paper explains the meanings of samurai, Bushido and Bushido spirit, introduces the history and actual. carrier of Bushido spirit, and explores the cultural connections between Bushido spirit and the Japanese right wing force. The naissance of samurai, which is a group of organized military people who fight for their master, is to meet the needs of social and economy development of Japanese feudalism. Bushido, as a set of ethic which the samurai must follow, includes faith, justice, braveness, humanity, manners and other core concepts which will transfer with the times. Bushido spirit, the 'soul of Yamato' and idiosyncrasy of the Japanese culture, is a contradictory national ethical system and one of the motivations for sustainable development of Japanese nation. Being a kind of cultural psychology and deportment which deviated from Japanese feudal entity, Bushido spirit transferred from the ethic of the rank of samurai into the ethic of the whole Japanese nation. Experienced from over one thousand year's development and the impingement of capitalism after Meiji Reform, Bushido spirit developed into the pneuma of the defense strategy of modern Japan. Moreover, Bushido spirit also exists in the Japanese right wing force and Japanese commercial culture, which is the real carrier of it. As the one of the cores of the Japanese culture and the deep-seated cultural psychology which formed by Japanese nations in the history, Bushido spirit has abroad and far-reaching influence. One of the real carriers of the Bushido spirit-the Japanese right wing force, which have experienced three developing phases: the right wing force before the World War II, the right wing force after the World War II and modern right wing force, have great impacts on every term of Japanese government. It is also the cultural soil of the Japanese right wing force. Bushido spirit was 'the way of war' in pre-war times. The fascist aggression to other countries is its embodiment. Self-devotion is the right wing force's Bushido in post-war times. Due to the restriction of the external condition, the right wing force in post war times dedicated to develop economy and encouraged the dedication for the reconstruction. The right wing force in modern times embodies the "Loyalty to royalty" of the Bushido. It cannot be impersonality at the history issue, particularly on the Yasukuni Shrine issue. This is determined by the loyalism and family and nation concept of Bushido, which is the tiptop of the Bushido ethic. Without Bushido spirit, the core concept of Japanese culture, it is impossible to understand the ideas and the behaviors of the Japanese right wing force. |
