The article studied the selection and arrangement of the basic grammars according to seven sets of textbooks of teaching Chinese as second language which are compiled after 1980's.The article described and analyzed the materials, and then got the corresponding conclusions. We discussed two aspects about the selection of the grammars as following: all the grammars involved in the seven sets of textbooks ; the common grammars which appear in most textbooks . The article focused on the common grammars. There are 820 items of grammars involved in the textbooks. we got 155 items of grammars after classifying them . There are 76 items of grammars that the rate of utilization is above 4, and we call these grammars as"the common grammars".The common grammars have characteristics as following : (1)embody the basic structures of Chinese ;(2)lay emphasis on the characteristics of Chinese; (3)the rate of utilization is comparatively high; (4)the usage is special or complex; (5)be essential in the basic expression. In the article, we also analyzed the grammars that the rate of utilization is less than 4.As to the arrangement of the grammars, we focused on the arrangement of the common grammars. We discussed three aspects about this question: appearance order of the common grammars in the textbooks; the order of systematic grammars; the suggestions about the arrangement of the grammars. We separated the common grammars three parts according to the appearance order, and analyzed the characteristics of different part. The systematic grammars means the grammars that have a comparative system in the whole grammar system of teaching Chinese as second language, for example: the ways of asking questions, the types of the sentences, complement and so on. The article especially analyzed the order of these grammars.Based on the orders of the grammars we analyzed before, the article arranged all the grammars according to the appearance order in the textbooks, and compared with the orders we analyzed before. They are basically accord. All in all, we got the results through analysis and description as following: (1)the basic grammars in the initial stage of teaching Chinese as second language; (2)the common grammars in the textbooks; (3)the appearance order of the common grammars of the initial stage. We hope these results of analysis could be helpful to compile the textbooks, and improve the efficiency of teaching Chinese as second language.
