Objective:In the study,we confirm the reliability and validity of The Scholastic Aptitude Test for Pupils of Grade 4~6 (SAT) and The Multiple Achievement Test of the 4~6 grades (MkT) in the common sample,and evaluate the applicability for screening underachiever via co-administration of the two tests.Methods:SkT and MAT were administered in the 780 elementary school students. Within one week, SAT was repeatedly administered in 115 students from the above-mentioned subjects.After about nine months,MAT was repeatedly administered in 483 students from the above-mentioned subjects.The scores of term examination were employedas criterions for two tests.The applicability of two tests for screening underachievers was validated by comparing the groups of underachievers with two methods,the statistic and teachers' nomination methods (78 subjects),and by comparing the subject scores of underachievers with those of achievers.Results:SAT The coefficients of equivalence were in the range of.278~809.There were significant differences in the scores of SAT among grades and sexes, which were coherent with the results of the Guangzhou sample.The structure validity was stable across groups supported by the results of confirmatory factor analysis. The correlations of SAT with term exams were in the range of.081~632.There were three DIF items in test A;and two DIF items in test B.MAT Its test-retest stability coefficients in nine months interval for sub-scale were.586 and.712.There were significant differences in the scores of MAT among grades and sexes,which were consistent with the results of Changsha sample.The correlations of MAT with term exams were in the range of.511~700.There were two DIF items in test A,and three DIF items in test B.SAT and MAT Exploratory Factor Analysis and canonical correlation showed there were different and overlapped structures in SAT and MAT. The concurrent correlation of two tests were in the range of.240~608.The predictive validity indices of SAI for the scores of MAT after one year were.133~614.There was no significant difference between the two groups of underachievers screened by different methods.The scores in corresponding subject exams in the underachievers identified by the discrepancy of the scores of two zests were lower than those of achievers.Conclusion:The results suggest that the reliability and validity of the two tests meet the need of psychometrics,and that combined administration of SAT and MAT is reasonable and applicable to screen underachievers.
