A Study Of The Pronouns In The Chinese Translated Buddhist Sutra During The Period Of Three Kingdoms

Back on such modern researching methods as theory of statistics, this thesis has paid thorough attention to the pronouns in the Chinese translated Buddhist Sutra during the period of Three Kingdoms. So when it centers on the pronouns, it uses some methods to research the characteristics of Chinese translated Buddhist Sutra during the period of Three Kingdoms ,for example, synchronic and diachronic perspective, dynamic and static analysis, description and explanation, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis.The whole thesis is divided into four parts.The first part mainly explains motivation, goal and significance of the topic, concludes related theoretic tend in the year of 2005 and 2006 , and displays methods, strategies and styles used in the thesis.The second part is of Buddhism and Buddhist Sutra during the period of Three Kingdoms. It reorganizes the existing studies, then introduces Chinese translated Buddhist Sutra and translators in Three Kingdoms, and differentiates Chinese translated Buddhist Sutra during the period of Three Kingdoms.The third part, pronouns in the Chinese translated Buddhist Sutra during the period of Three Kingdoms.This part is the body of this thesis. After making a thorough statistic and analysis on 33 Chinese translated Buddhist Sutra during the period of Three Kingdoms, in which personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns and interrogative pronouns are showed in details, the author paves her way from the view of synchronic and diachronic, and makes a qualitative analysis besides of quantitative analysis so that she figures out the pronouns system in Chinese translated Buddhist Sutra during the period of Three Kingdoms.The last part is a conclusion.Comparing with that of Dong Han Dynasty, pronouns used in Chinese translated Buddhist Sutra during the period of Three Kingdoms had some changes as it not only kicked out something outdate and added something new. Those changes could not be explained without conceiving bi-language trend in Chinese language and unifying of single forms and plural forms.
