| Based on the theories of CC, CA and BE, this thesis intends to find out the importance and necessity of CA in BE teaching through the investigation of the present situation of BE teaching and the needs of BE students and Business professionals.Three types of questionnaires are designed respectively for seniors of BE orientation, business professionals and BE teachers. The author analyzes the data of the three questionnaires in detail in order to answer the following three research questions:â‘ What are the practical needs of Chinese BE students for Business English study and their degree of satisfaction toward BE teaching?â‘¡What are the practical needs of business professionals for Business English study and their degree of satisfaction toward BE teaching?â‘¢What problems exist in BE specialty establishment and the current BE teaching? As for Question One, Questionnaire One gets involved in five aspects including BE students'motivation and attitude toward BE learning, extent of satisfaction toward BE teachers and BE teaching, preferred methods of BE teaching and class activities and application of multimedia into BE teaching and learning. To answer Question Two, Questionnaire Two investigates business professionals from three aspects focusing on difficulties in communicating with foreigners, preferred professional communicative skills and business knowledge and suggestions to BE teaching out of their work needs. With regard to the third question, Questionnaire Three makes research on the problems in the establishment of BE specialty at college and BE teaching.The research results clearly show that language skills, business knowledge and cross-cultural communication knowledge are the dominant needs in BE learning, which provide significant instruction for the contents of BE teaching and teaching objectives of BE; secondly, most BE students and business professionals are very dissatisfied with the current business teaching , which concentrates on low quality of BE teachers , backward methods of BE teaching and outdated textbooks that can't meet the requirements of business world; finally, there'no clear, definite position of BE specialty with disorderly establishment of curriculums, and BE teachers face problems in business knowledge, business working experience and methods of BE teaching.Regarding the above results for the three research questions, this thesis proposes the principles and methods adopted in BE teaching which embody the nature and characteristics of CA, such as group discussion, situational simulation and case study, which are very necessary and important to meet students'needs for Business English and improve their communicative competence. Besides, the thesis points out the drawbacks and problems in the research, which need to be avoided in future related research. |
