The output hypothesis (Swain) thinks that output has four functions in language acquisition: 1.Noticing function 2. Hypothesis-testing function 3. Metalinguistic function 4. Fluencyfunction. The noticing function means that the output of target language will promotes thelearners to notice their language problems, and focus on the relative language features when theyreceive input, then they will try to learn these points. This paper puts the noticing function ofoutput hypothesis into the Studies of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, and raises threequestions through the experiment: 1. Compared with non-output, does output facilitate noticing ofthe Chinese construction? 2. Compared with non-output, is output more benefit to theacquisition of Chinese construction? 3. Are there any differences between word output and oraloutput? The experiment is divided into three stages. First, using the same output materials incomparison-group, experimental-group A and experimental-group B, which covers the pictureswith "bei" meaning, and short story with "bei "describing pictures. Both the experimental-groupA and experimental-group B repeat respectively the short story by word form and oral form, while, the comparison-group make comprehension practice.Second, experimental-group A and experimental-group B study the same materials once again, and mark the noticing information, then repeat respectively the short story by word form and oralform once more. The comparison-group is also asked to mark the noticing information of thestory.Third, all the three groups have the examination which tests their acquisition of sentences "bei".The result of the experiment shows that, compared with non-output, output promotes the noticingand acquisition of Chinese construction.
