| This article takes an example of the syntax-semantic Feature [direction], whether it can restrict the syntax performance of Chinese digestion verbs, and if so, how it restricts the syntax. We want to classify the digestion verbs according to the restricted conditions. In the paper, we define the term [direction] and explore the syntax performance of nondirectional verbs, the introdirectional verbs, the extrodirectional verbs and the bidirectional verbs. The term [direction] is the process which the actor acts the food. Here is its characteristic: the objective semantics as the foundation, the mental construal by human beings, and the syntax marker of such characteristic. The syntax-semantic feature [direction] requests from the syntax to mark the movement between the mover and the reference. The evidences of the nondirectional verbs are from the default value, the inversal sentences and the state sentences. The evidences of the introdirectional verbs originate from the preposition, the position phrase and the second reference. The evidences of extrodirectional verbs comes from the mover, the frame of reference and the secondary frame of reference. We find the construal Syntax-Semantics Feature rank: The mover > the second frame of reference > the frame of reference. But the bidirectional verbs owe to the introdirectional verbs but not to extrodirectional verbs. Finally, we insist that the semantic-syntax feature [direction] in the modern Chinese digestion verbs can express from none to existence, from concrete to abstract. |
