There are thousands of people learning foreign language in our country. They will face varieties of difficulties during learning, most of which are psychological. Because of many kinds of reasons, many people are afraid of foreign language, they are afraid of having foreign language classes, reading foreign language books and communicating in foreign language. This phenomenon, we called it foreign language anxiety. Foreign language anxiety comes into beings in a special foreign language teaching environment and it is a mental statement related to foreign language learning, it mainly presents moody reactions such as anxious, worry, horrible and so on. There are a series of research about college students'foreign language anxiety among western psychological circle and educational circle, they founded foreign language anxiety appears among the college students'foreign language learning popularly. Chinese college students'learning foreign language usually last for a long time, lots of people in one class learning intensive English, especially appear in the newly-built undergraduate college students. There have been a series of concrete evidence research on it in our country since the late 1990, but there is very little concrete evidence research on newly-built undergraduate college students'foreign language learning anxiety.There are important theoretical and practical meanings on foreign language anxiety's study. This research uses'Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale'(FLCAS) and'NEO-FFI personality test scale'as measuring research tools. The testees are newly-built undergraduate college students. The research discusses newly-built undergraduate college students'foreign language anxiety's distribution; foreign language anxiety's sexual difference and professional difference, the relationship between the foreign language anxiety and academic performance, distinctive personality. Then it also discusses the measurements of overcoming foreign language anxiety from education and reduces the bad influences on college students.The conclusions are as follows:1. The newly-built undergraduate college students'English learning anxiety is heavy.2. There is sexual difference on the full score of newly-built undergraduate college students'English learning anxiety, the anxiety of the boy students is evidently higher than that of the girl students.3. There is significant negative correlation between newly-built undergraduate college students'English learning anxiety and foreign language academic performance. The higher the college students'anxiety is, the lower the college students'academic performance; there is significant difference among the different groups of level of anxiety, the higher one is lower the middle and lower one.4. There is close relationship between distinctive personality and foreign language anxiety. There is significant positive correlation between foreign language anxiety and college students'nervousness, i.e. the higher score of nervousness gets, the heavier the foreign language anxiety is, vice versa. There is also significant negative correlation between foreign language anxiety and extroversion, responsibility, i.e. the higher score of extroversion, responsibility gets, the lighter the foreign language anxiety is, vice versa.Newly-built undergraduate college students can overcome foreign language anxiety by way of understanding their own statement of anxiety, setting up practical foreign language learning goal and adjusting foreign language learning motivation, etc. Furthermore, newly-built undergraduate college should set up good and harmonious language teaching atmosphere to reduce the foreign language anxiety of college students by way of setting up good teacher-student relationship, improving teaching methods and ways and developing college students'cross-cultural consciousness.
