The purpose of the research is to find a more effective method to teach English writing to Chinese university students. The result of the research can help English writing instructors gain insights into integration of blog in EFL writing class.English writing has been a bottleneck of English teaching, and traditional teacher-centered product approach fails to improve English writing effectively. Blog is a new kind of network communication, which is an innovation of application of network. A blog, as a learning and knowledge management tool, plays a unique role in providing digital teaching notes and an authentic interactive platform, recording learning and teaching process, promoting cooperative learning and learner autonomy and effective communication between teachers and students.Based on constructivism, the research explores the teaching mode in the blog environment, through a sample of teaching plan and an experiment conducted in two different settings, the result shows that blog-backed teaching has evident advantages over the traditional classroom teaching. In fact, blog learning itself is concretion of the abstract learning process; it is a constant process of knowledge construction. In the blog setting, writing is a dynamic circular process in which students are highly motivated. Each step in the process is more student-centered and all students experience the process of collaborative learning and knowledge construction. The blog, as a new teaching environment, also has shortcomings such as limitation of its space and uploading file types, instability and so on.All in all, the blog offers a broad future for education and brings both opportunities and challenges to language teaching.
