The thesis adopts mainly quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate the correlation between the English learners'character, his learning style and his learning strategy. 200 freshmen of Non-English majors are chosen as the targets of the investigation. First, the thesis discusses the definition, classification and correlation of the character, learning styles and learning strategies,and the theoretical framework is also formulated. Second, according to the theoretical framework of the correlation, a questionnaire is designed and the plan of strategy training is made. Furthermore, the experiments for strategy training are conducted for three months and the experimental research data is collected. Third, after analyzing the research data, the results of the research indicate that different characters use different learning styles and the learning styles have strong impact on the English learning strategies. The extroverts and the introverts prefer more cognitive and compensation strategies and less metacognitive strategies. But after strategy training for three months, the learners show great improvement in the use of metacognitive strategies. Finally, the author puts forward some suggestions for the instruction of English learning strategies.
