Since FangFang published her first work "On Big Wagon " in 1982,she has written serial novels. In these novels, FangFang always focused on the same theme that was human's subsistence problem which occurred under differert conditions. She described three differert conditions. She described three different artistic worlds: the humble citizen's world, the intellectuals' world, and the female's world. In the humble citizen's world, she pictured the life of human whose spirit had been distorted under the condition of illth of living material. If human's basic needs wouldn't be satisfied, they cared nothing about spiritual civilization, as a result, they involved in the savage living state like animal. Under such circumstances, the affection, the friendship, and the love, they all degraded to be a slave who served man to pursue the better living material.FangFang depicted three kinds of intellectuals: the traditional intellectual, the intellectual living during the political activities, the intellectual impacted by the New Peried's market. Among these people, she penetrated into their spiritual world, paid attention to their inner world and thought about how long these people's arrogance can hold on under differert environments. As a woman writer, FangFang certainly concerned femal's subsistence problem. No matter she was a common rural woman or a urban professional employee, they all lived in men's world in which their pursuer of their dreams were depressed. The male hurt them but they revenged by hurting themselves. During the process of protesting the male, they lost themselves and plunged in despair.
