A Research On Nuo Clothing In Guichi Of Anhui Province

The famous drama " Nuo" popular in town of Guichi in Anhui Province in China is a traditional folk dancing and drama activities where actor and actress performed with masks, playing the role of Chinese folk ceremony honoring the gods and ancestors; it is originated from the ancient sprite of worship, with major purpose of dispelling evil and invoking blessings, etc. Related organizations comprise members of local clans or from the members coming from naturally classified locations per natural conditions of living environment. Drama "Nuo" in Anhui Guichi distinguishes herself typically out of the rest of groups of overall "Nuo" Culture nationwide in China, with the drama "NUO" reputed even as " the living fossil of China Drama". The town Chuichi in Anhui province is also valued with the reputation as " the home town of China Nuo Culture". During on site study, it was found that the previous study and findings on "Nuo" drama dress/clothing which limited to case itself only is not enough. This article will tell that the study on "Nuo" drama dress/clothing is actually providing the findings and clues for one of the most origin draft starting design idea of the traditional Chinese dress and clothing. Such consequence of the study adds the scores to the significance of study on "Nuo" Culture and further strengthen reflecting the importance of protection of "Nuo" Culture in long term.This article illustrated and analyzed the subject with the basis of the theory support of culture and human science, with further on site practical inspections and study. The author made twice trips of investigations to the town of Guichi, mainly for intensively collecting related documents and image data records by means of focusing on looking into the most original status of existence, which, step by step, achieves the understanding of the most typical characteristics and significance of culture of local Guichui "Nuo". Further screening and categorizing are done based on above-mentioned collected 1^st hand documents and information, while also if double checking the statement and perspectives from the theories tracked from the "History of China Clothing", "China folklore", and China Culture, etc, the author concluded that the previous individual case of local "Nuo" Culture study only actually will much more go beyond the case herself by showing her much more widespread influential elements found in the role playing in contributing in creating overall Chinese Han Nationality Dress/Clothing, which is especially reflected in those aspects which commonly exists in Chinese traditional folk culture, such as constantly pursuing the hidden and mysterious spirit and the theme of dispelling evil and invoking blessings for business and career prosperity, continuing generations of life, and dream of individual longevity, etc.Special reminding of author is that this article is not meant for focusing on recalling and accumulating findings of the past which limited to issues around ancient Chinese traditional culture only, but most importantly, emphasizing and pointing out such culture significance and value towards the development of today's modern society, which will contribute to the findings on the life root of the most original driven pulse behind the design creation works for Chinese fashion/dress/clothing.
