This paper explores to reproduce the general course of the germination, development and establishment of the Modern Chinese poems'musicality theory. It intends to review the gains and losses of modern Chinese poems'musicality by analysizing the individual cases of specific poesy commentators'theories of musicality so as to mirror the source and look into the future journey of melodiousness.This paper is divided into four chapters: Chapter One the origin of poem and music, which is the theoretical basis of this paper. It describes the necessity and possibility of the melodiousnesss in poems, and it it is made up of two sections. The first section is about the essence of music in poems which will be explored from the perspective of the rhythm characteristics of Chinese languages and the development of the melodiousness of Chinese poems; the second section is the mechanism of fulfilling its melodiousness, which will focus on the melodiousness formation in terms of rules and forms of classical poems. Chapter Two 1896—1916: the points of modern Chinese poems'melodiousness in late Qing Dynasty. It mainly describes the phase from the beginning of"poem revolution"in 1896 to the"movement of poems of colloquial". The development of modern Chinese poems'melodiousness has gone through the flexibility of classical poems speech mechanism, the exploration made by LinagQichao to modern Chinese poems'melodiousness in"Yin Bing Shi Shihua〞as well as the exploration of miscellaneous ballads at the phase of"New Story", and finally the practice in"Song Poems"and"New YueOu"established the rudiment of new colloquialism poems. Chapter Three 1917—1920: the generation of modern Chinese poems'melodiousness. In this phase, colloquial poems appear with a new style, which is also a phase when modern Chinese poems'melodiousness was discussed as a poetics proposition. This chapter mainly discusses the important propositions which are of great influences to the theories of modern poems'melodiousness when the new colloquialism poems occur (I.E. the damage of traditional poems'language and forms by new colloquialism poems) and also established the new speech mechanism of Chinese poems. At the very beginning, colloquial poets proposed the"Natural Sylable theory". Chapter Four 1920—1923:the establishment of the melodiousness of colloquial poems, during these four years, the colloquial poets began to pay attention to the feature of aesthetics of poems, and collectively discussed the problem of melodiousness of colloquial poems, which could be regarded as the phase when the colloquial poets made comprehensive establishment of melodiousness. This chapter mainly described the establishment of the theories of melodiousness made by colloquial poets. At this phase, the conservative school which is represented by"Xueheng School"proposed criticism to colloquial poems. It also described the turning of colloquialism poems melodiousness caused by poets represented by Youth China colleagues and Quo Moruo.Finally, the significance of this paper lies in that it tries to find laws from the various efforts and changes from the generation phase of modern Chinese poems'melodiousness so as to prospect the future development of modern Chinese melodiousness, which is also a kind of appeal to the pursuit of the regression to art of current poems.
