There is no other culture from any other countries across the world, but Japanese culture has been exposed to the subtle but everlasting sadness. Japanese culture is like the little white chrysthansm in its blossom, standing lonely in the snow but still pretty in its own fashion, sad while full of happiness at the same time, and sending out its great smell. Neither the sadness comes as strong as a storm, nor comes in like complaining. It is this special sad emotion that covers Japanese culture with a veil of mystery, loneliness, delicateness and beauty. What's more, this sadness makes Japanese culture differ from the Western culture which seems reasonable and enthusiastic; in the meanwhile, the sadness also makes Japanese culture differ from Eastern culture which is represented by Chinese culture-straightforward and forthright. This paper explores where the sadness of Japanese culture stems from and takes a look at its inner significance. Next, the paper subtracts the sadness from the best part of various aspects of Japanese culture. At last, it combines the sadness with Japanese aesthetics, literature, religion, music and concepts, some classic pieces of works, and samples then makes an analysis with the hope of helping readers understand deeply the pure beauty of Japanese culture.
