Domestic animation theory is not perfect; however, there is an urgent need to complete a set of system design theory of animation series because of the development of the domestic animation and the importance of animation industry. The author sought to do some contribution to animation theory. China, of long standing and well established has a long history with 5,000 years. The accumulation of the splendid culture in history is numerous as the stars in the sky; this paper is to provide a broader material space for animation creation, to make a comprehensive analysis of Chinese history cultural which can be absorbed by animation creation. We research the feasibility and value of those cultural as animation materials, which include folk culture, folk arts, and minority cultures, with a view to providing ready-made typical creation material for animation creation. We mainly demonstrate the following aspects of animation creation: script elements, role elements, sound elements and manifestation, which is the vector animation.This paper is divided into two parts.The first part, we try to demonstrate the meaning of searching creation elements in the ancient culture by the analysis of the international classic animation works; meanwhile, we also analysis the development status of domestic animation and make the conclusion that we now should remain in the search for animation elements in the history of China. At the same time, we demonstrate the corresponding features of history elements of animation.The second part is the main part of this paper which is divided into four sections. In Chapter 1, we demonstrate and aim to search creation material for animation scripts from folk culture, such as the Chinese traditional festival custom, the festival features ethnic customs and Lunar New Year culture and classical literature, martial arts novel, the story of idioms and totem worship. In Chapter II, we try to find creation material of animated role from Neiqiu paper horse, 12 symbolic animals and other folk art; totem images at different times, such as Taotie Wen in bronzes of Shang and Zhou dynasty, four-Ling Wen in Wadang of Han dynasty and civil different mask images and so on; and those mature, distinctive images in the traditional Chinese opera such as face of clowns. In Chapter III, we insist that the creation of animated voices should learn from traditional musical instruments as well as the characteristics of minority voices. In Chapter IV, we demonstrate that the traditional art forms can be used as the carrier of animation, as a creative art form of animation; some success animation works such as ink, paper-cut animation has not yet cover all forms of traditional Chinese art. There are great rooms for Chinese animation's development in art forms, such as origami, ice and other traditional art forms, which can also be a new form of expression of animated creation.At the same time, although we advocate find animation materials in Chinese history, we don't insist that we should completely make a copy of history. It is not comfortable to quibble over trivialities split hairs in history, only making the past serves the parent, combining elements of the times, the modern spirit, can we create success, popular animation works.
