On The Prepositional Structure "Suizhe X"

So far the researches on the prepositional structure"Suizhe X"in the study circle of Chinese grammar have been mostly illustrative.These researches are involved only to meet the needs of the viewpiont-illuminations in the process of Chinese preposition studies. So generally speaking they are short of systematicness. This paper mainly investigate the prepositional structure"Suizhe X"within the synchronic range. Except for the introduction and the conclusion, this paper consists of four chapters below:In chapterâ… , we focus on the external forms of this structure. Firstly, according to their characteristics, we primarily classify the"X"into two kinds:"NP"and"N de V". Then, we generalize the semantic features of the"NP"from its structural features. At last, we discuss the functions of"de"in the structure"N de V"with the help of interrelated theories about the focal information.In chapterâ…¡, we mainly discuss the structure"N de V". we first make a comparsion between"N de V"which is built in the prepositional structure"Suizhe X"and those which are not in terms of their structural types and the semantic roles of the"N". We find that their common factors are major, and their individul factors are minor.However the latter is also very obvious,which registers as the relatively contractible tendency of the structural types for"V"and the semantic roles for"N"in the prepositional structure"Suizhe X". Then we analyze the selection of"V"in"Suizhe N de V"in a focused manner. Having classified the"N de V"which is in the structure"Suizhe X"into two types: intiative structure ande passive one, and then we make a detialed description about the semantic features of the"V"which in these two structures.In chapterâ…¢,we turn our views into the sentence which the structure exists. First of all,we analyze the distribution of this structure in its sentences statistically, and find out its regularity. Secondly, based on the analysis of the semantic relationship between"X"and the event decribed by the sentence which it exsit, we analyze the semantic relationship between the structure"Suizhe X"and the event. Finally, we study the restriction that the semantic relationships above make to the distribution of this structure with the help of the individul iconic motivation and order iconic motivation.In chapterâ…£, we mainly study two special structures: the prepositional nesting form"Suizhe+'Dui N de V'"and the prepositional frame"Suizhe X erY". We firstly compare"Suizhe N de V"with"Dui N de V", find out the differences between these two structures, and concretely analyze the function which the structure"Suizhe X"have to disambiguate the structure"Dui N de V". Then, we investigate the structural features of the"VP"in the prepositional frame"Suizhe X er Y"and the present-absent regulatons of the"er".
