| Wang Chong was an outstanding thinker of the Donghan dynasty, and his famous book "Lun Heng" was considered to be a wonderful book on the sinological field. The book criticized the superstition that was in vogue in that dynasty such as the theory about the interaction between the heaven and human, and the theology of "Chenwei", the theory of ghost and deity, and the alchemy of becoming immortal, and then the derivation thoughts of grand funeral and munificent worship and other superstitious taboos, which had a profound influence on the posterity.This article is composed of five parts: in the introduction part we explain our reason to choose the topic and the present situation of the study on this field and some problems to be declared is also pointed out in this part; in part two we discuss the background of Wang Chong's ideology on superstition critique and who is Wang Chong; in part three we mainly discuss the ideology of Wang Chong's demonstration about heaven, in which Wang Chong demonstrated the materiality of the heaven under the foundation of "Tian dao zi ran" and confirmed that everything on earth is to emerge of itself and the heaven could do nothing which criticized the theory of the interaction between the heaven and human; in part four we discuss Wang Chong's theory about ghost and deity. Wang Chong denied that when a man died he would become a ghost, and revealed the pretense of the alchemy of becoming immortal, and then criticized the general mood of grand funeral and munificent worship, as well as some other superstitious taboos; in part five we mainly discuss the realistic value of Wang Chong's ideology on superstition critique. |
