The Research Into "the Style Of Du Xunhe"

Du Xunhe was a famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty. During that time, the poetic style generally tends to be humble and weak. However Du Xunhe could cast his creating perspective into the realities of broad life and show a sharp creative personality. Due to our predecessors' discrimination to the poems of the late Tang Dynasty, Du Xunhe didn't receive due attention to his poems. Since Yan Yu put forward the saying of "Du Xunhe's style", both the ancients and the moderns have seldom elaborated on it. This thesis, taking "the style of Du Xunhe" as its object, tries expounding its concept, connotation and lays great emphasis on analyzing the contributing factors of its unique artistic characteristics. The factors are: the influence of Du Xunhe's life experience, the significance of poetry creation to the value of life, his use of the predecessors' creative experience etc. At the same time, in comparison with his contemporary poets such as Luo Yin, Pi Rixiu, Nie Yizhong, the unique artistic charm of Du Xunhe's poems is exhibited very clearly, thus his significance to the poetry circle in the late Tang is revealed. Lastly, this paper reflects the impact of his poetry on future generations from his poems' accepted conditions by the descendants and points out the existence limitations of his poetry objectively.
