The passage mainly discourses on the progress of the American naturalistic literature and its characteristics reflected in the process in the 19th century. The analysis of above further introduces into the significance and the ecological inspiration of naturalistic literature to the entire American literature. Chapter one proceeds with the concept of naturalism, it illustrates the features of the naturalistic literature and its development in America. Chapter two takes the magnum opuses of the representative writers for example to make an analysis on their naturalistic outlook and the embodiment of the natural objects in their works respectively. Chapter three puts much emphasis on the characteristics of the American naturalistic literature as well as the significance and the ecological inspiration of naturalistic literature to the entire American literature.
