| Objective: To explore the status of mental health , the relationship and their health-risky behaviors among the freshmen of the secondary health school in Suzhou. and attempt to offer the evidence for promotion of the mental health and control depression, anxiety and harmful behaviors to establish a life way of civilization, health and science.Methods: A self-administered questionnaire on health behaviors, SDS, SAS was conducted among 750 freshmen chosen in Suzhou Health school. The contents involved in depression, anxiety, their family background and their health-risky behaviors. Data was analyzed with SPPS 10.0 statistic software and t-test, chi-square test and non-conditional logistic regression were performed.Results: According to the results of SDS and SAS, the standard scores of depression symptoms were 46.26±9.29. Their depression symptoms were significantly higher than that of national norm. The standard scores of anxiety symptoms were 41.09±8.79, and there was no significant difference comparing with national norm. The prevalence of depression symptoms was 35.0%. The prevalence of anxiety symptoms was 12.6%.The students in the secondary health school who smoked were account of 4.8% and 14.9% of the students had drunk alcohol. Boys were more than girls. 12.8% of the students ever had thought of intention and behavior of suicide. There was no significant difference between the boys and the girls. The prevalences of eating snacks and fried food were 49.5% and 50.8%. 50.1% of the students had not drunk milk and milk products. 12.3% of the students did not eat breakfast. 9.4% of the students did not eat vegetables often. 28.3% of the students ever had the thought and/or the behavior of departure from home, and there was significant difference between boys and girls, boys are higher than girls. 54.4% of the students were lack of sports activities. 49.1% of the students had spent less than 8 hours in sleeping every day .4.6% of the students had played cards, chat on the internet. 2.7% of the students were in love. 7.8% of the students had the thoughts of transgression when they were making friends with the opposite sex.Analyse of Logistic reggresion showed, the influencing factors of depression symptoms were the father's health status, the mother's education background, the parents'attention about family, the intention or behaviors of suicide, surfing the internet every day. The influencing factors of anxiety symptoms were the intention or behaviors of suicide, surfing the internet every day.Conclusions: The students in the secondary health school are a particular group. On the one hand, they have a lot of health-risky behaviors. On the other hand, they face the pressure to look for jobs. It is not optimistic about the mental health. The depression symptoms are more serious. Symptoms of depression and anxiety are related to the family status and some of harmful health behaviors. There exist many harmful behaviors in the secondary health school. Therefore the parents, educators and authorities concerned should know about it and take measures to improve mental health of the students and interfere it in time. |
