The eye movements of students of grade 2 in senior high school and senior college of Chinese language major were recorded when they were reading classical Chinese with word and expression typesetting.The results were as follows:1,Different typesetting had a significant effect on eye movement pattern when students read classical Chinese. For grade 2 in senior high school, typesetting mainly influenced fixation time, average fixation time, fixation count, that is, when they were reading materials with expression typesetting, the fixation time and count became more, and the average fixation time decreased. For senior college students, only saccade amplitude was affected by typesetting, in details, it got bigger during reading expression typesetting. These showed some studies on expression typesetting could increase reading rate should continue to proved. The difference above showed that the views, that expression typesetting could improve reading efficiency, needed to be confirmed.2,Different experience affected eye movement pattern when students read classical Chinese. The average fixation time and saccade amplitude were significantly different between grade 2 in senior school and senior college students, when they read classical Chinese with word typesetting. The fixation time and count and saccade amplitude were significant different between grade 2 in senior school and senior college students, when they read classical Chinese with expression.The differences as above showed, reading experience affected the student's comprehension of classical Chinese. Expression typesetting had a negative effect on students of grade 2 in senior high school, who had few reading experiences.
