A Study On The Chinese Gongbi Figure Painting Art Of Chen Baiyi

As a master of Chinese Gongbi painting,Chen Baiyi enjoys a good reputation in China and abroad.For 60 years,he has devoted himself to the research of Chinese Gongbi figure painting.He has an unconventional idea in kneading together the traditional drawing,the folk art,Western art in a body to performance the modern life,so his art has a unique style. His works have participated in the domestic and foreign displays for many times and have very tremendous influence. More than ten works of Chen Baiyi have won the national prizes; they were Ouyang Hai,listening outside the wall,the morning breeze.the summer night,the little partners etc.Chen Baiyi is also an industrious fine arts activist.He has worked in the Hunan Artists Association for 40 years.He created the Hunan Gongbi painting school and made the tremendous contribution for the rejuvenation of the Chinese Gongbi painting.To study the Gongbi figure painting of Chen Baiyi is beneficial to the construction of traditional Chinese painting theory and have positive enlightenment function to the Chinese drawing art creation in the same time.This article carried on a comprehensive merit to the Gongbi figure art of Chen Baiyi from the course,style,language,value of his art and his artistic viewpoint.The first chapter introduced the significance,the present situation and the technique of this research topic.According to his life experience and drawing style evolution,the second chapter divided Chen Baiyi' sart course into four stages of the studies, the revolutionary fine arts,the artistic style mature and the outline drawing and freehand brushwork,and analyzed the social history culture reason which forms Chen his drawing style.The third chapter took his works as the foundational materials to sum up the style characteristic of his art into seven aspects: the rich life flavour,the bright region characteristic,the poetic sentiment feelings,the tranquil and peaceful prospect; the exuberant amusements,the simple and health image and the harmonious picture effect.The fourth chapter summarized the language characteristic of his art from four aspects,the line drawing,the modelling,the colour and the composition.The sixth chapter analyzed Chen Baiyi's aesthetics thought from four sides:"taking the people as the basis,the life as a source,the inheritance for uses and the innovation as a goal".
