Uncover Men's Persona

Among the contemporary Chinese writers, Zhang Xianliang is a well-known one for the description of soul and flesh about men ,who has reached a considerable high level that could not achieve it even for authors of the same period and later.Based on Zhang Xianliang's novels, this paper discusses the developments and changes of masculinity in process of Chinese modernization: from expression of the times about"Man"to the show of the effeminate man until the building of male mythology collapsed, Such a development process was clearly corresponded to the writing about men of other writers in China.Introduction mainly accounts for the main elements, theoretical perspectives and practical significance of research.The text consists of five chapters: Chapterâ… is the overview of Zhang Xianliang novels and creation of a new criticism space about them; In chapterâ…¡, there were those typical hegemonic masculinity men in the literatures of reform. Men were always "high, big and full" type of people. women only were prepared for being dedicated to them. Because Modernity advocated spirit of men, ie hegemonic masculinity, the phenomenon of " misogyny "was very obviously;In chapterâ…¢, the performance of femininity of male intellectuals;there is a clearly feature that men always watch women through their own vision in the works of Zhang Xianliang ,so there is a Power relations between them.According to sex Inferiority complex psychological of men , we can find that "penis worship" psychological is commom for men or women; Chapterâ…£: "Man" Literature is short-lived in Contemporary Literature of China. In the new century literature, the effeminate man has become a beautiful landscape in literary garden instead. From the Woolf's theory of "androgyny", Jung's claim of persona, we learned that the femininity is hidden in a man and similarly masculinity in a woman. This Bisexuality is in the reunification of the spiritual world of specific people in the life so as to form a complete personality characteristics. On this basis,the author mainly quoted Jung's terms of Psychological Analysis such as "Anima" ,being inquired to the male personality of Zhang Xianliang's novels, and the author believed that the ideal of being"integrity of people "became Zhang Xianliang's writing dynamic and pursuit. Chapterâ…¤discusses in detail several aspects involved in the gender: the grand narrative and micro-narrative, the public sphere and the private sector, emotional and rational, but the relationship of modernity and masculinity is always running through the main line of the whole paper.Concluding remarks are summed up the basic conclusion and bring the prospects for further study.
