Li Mixun's Literary Achievements In Poems

Li Mixun is a very special poet in Song Dynasty of China. He is one of the close friends of Li Gang, who is another famous poet as well as a general. They both claimed that they must take steps to arm themselves against invasion of Jin Kingdom. He was hit by other ministers because of his political views. This dissertation applies traditional literary theoretical critical method to study Li Mixun's poems. The first half part of the dissertation stresses Li Mixun's life and his ideology. The main part of the dissertation elaborates Li Mixun's poem creation. His poems are various in forms and rich in content. The intense patriotic emotions are outstanding in Li Mixun's poems. He repeatedly met with obstruction to save the country and it was very difficult for him to realize his great aspiration. In the most years of his later life, he sequestered himself from the world. He could only project his loyalty and his concern about the country and the people into his poems. The style of Li Mixun's poems is fresh and uninhibited. In Chinese poem history, Li Mixun, with his special political status, deep love for the motherland and his various fresh style of the poems, profoundly influenced the early patriotic poems of the early Southern Song Dynasty not only in ideological content but also in artistic style.
