A Study On Baoen Of Chinese From A Psychological Perspective

Baoen is a traditional virtue of China. Baoen is an important behavioral pattern and a basic moral rule of Chinese. It play an important role in daily communication. First, semantic analysis was used to study the implication of the attachment to Baoen Psychology. We found that hat the word of Baoen Psychology can be interpreted as psychology and behavior of people who has accepted some help from others when he was in trouble. There are some favorable impression, some owed feeling and a motivation to repay with him. The recipient may use a suitable method to repay the people who helped him. Second, we discussed the categories of Baoen Psychology. It was divided into two part: the objects of Baoen Psychology and the methods of Baoen Psychology. Then, both theoretical studies and empirical studies are done to explore the psychological mechanism of Baoen Psychology. A serious of processes make up psychological mechanism of Baoen : distinguishing the gratitude, thanksgiving, Baoen behavior and the feedback from Baoen. Finally, we used depth interview doing a empirical study on the university students. Main conclusions can be drawn as follows:(1)There are different behavioral norms of different people.(2) Two kinds of motivations can be found in Baoen behavior and psychology: internal motivation and external motivation.(3) Some wrong opinions may be found on Baoen phenomenon. To give others help without reciprocation isn't in accordance with the nature of human.Several enlightenments were put forward at the end of the paper.
