The aim of the study is to carry out the input of literature language in EFL writing. Writing is a complex intellectual process of constructing new information with the integrative use of one's linguistic knowledge and background knowledge. Writing requires little observation or introspection to reach the conclusion that these processes are very complex.Literature language is significant to English writing, for literature offers authentic materials, culture and language nourishment, and makes us devoted. Literature language could discover the complicated and concealed inward world of the characters. Literature language is so fruitful that we can apply the performance of literature language to our writing. Povey, in summarizing the aims of using literature in ESL classes, argues that literature will increase all language skills, because literature will extend linguistic knowledge by giving evidence of extensive and subtle vocabulary usage, and complex and exact syntax.Four theories are proposed by the author on the input of literature language in EFL writing: 1) the input hypothesis; 2) Swain's output hypothesis; 3) Jonathan Culler'literary theory; 4) Sandra McKay's perspective on literature. Theoretically, this study provides a new research of literature language for EFL writing; pragmatically, it is meaningful for the better language output of English writing. The dissertation, through investigations on students'writing ability and activities in form of data collection, questionnaire and interviews, proved that the effect of literature language in English writing. With the implication of literature language and writing relationship for classroom activities, an effective method is proposed in this thesis, which means to guide students to learn literature language.The limitation of this research is discussed in the conclusion. Besides, the possible further study of literature language input is suggested.
