| Art songs in China have nearly experienced 100 years' development since they were introduced to China last century. From the resplendence in 1920s and 1930s to the degeneracy due to the historical wars in 1940s; from the unprosperity in the 17 years since the foundation of People's Republic of China to the complete durance in the Cultural Revolution period and then to the renaissance because of the recovery of Chinese society, economy and culture since China's reform and opening, the road of the development of Chinese art songs is a bumpy one. Of course, art, which by nature is the outcome of a certain era, is necessarily influenced by the specific era and its social background. Since China's reform and opening, Chinese art songs have got great advancement not only in the total quantity but also in the quality of composing in 30 years. And the period of 1980s is the second golden time for the development of Chinese art songs. However, though Chinese art songs in the new era have taken on a new look, they are certainly facing various problems; and thus research and conclusion on the development of Chinese art songs in these 30 years are required so as to recognize accomplishments and identify problems. Therefore, based on the former researchers' fruits, this paper, by massive data collection, processing and analysis and trying making reference to research methodology for music history and vocalism, probes into the general development situation and composing characteristics of Chinese art songs and the singing characteristics and innovation of new opuses in the 30 years since reform and opening from two perspectives: general development situation and singing of Chinese art songs. It is the expectation that this probe contributes to the further development of Chinese art songs in the future. |
