Study On Chen Shan And His Works Of Menshi XinHua

As a works of "concerning extensively with many books and originally creating new opinion",Chen Shan's Menshi XinHua has undergone a twist of fate and hasn't been widely accepted ever since it was published.The readers can't see its theoretical value systematically as most of the narrations by the posterity are complanational and lack of deep level discussion. What's more important is that there were two Chen Shans in Southern Song Dynasty.Thus when we recount Chen Shan,the author of MenShi XinHua,we often mix him with another Chen Shan,the author of XuePeng Yehua,thereby causing many inconvenience and regrets to the readers.The book Catalogue Summary of Imperial Collection of Four edited by Ji Yun in Qing Dynasty thought poorly of MenShi XinHua and denigrated it excessively.These went against the right evaluation on MenShi XinHua by the posterity.Based on these,the paper tries to solve the following two problems:Firstly,it tries to sort out the life of the author of MenShi XinHua by the method of verification in order to make sure the real author of this book.At the same time,it tries to sort out the publishing dates and volumes of MenShi XinHua in order to provide convenience for others' further study. Secondly,by the way of integrated study,it tries to evaluate the theoretical values and deficiency of MenShi XinHua,and to discriminate denouncing evaluation in Catalogue Summary of Imperial Collection of Four,thus get more reasonable conclusion to promote further study on Fuiian ancient local literature.
