The footbinding is a special behavior of the Han nationality women of the ancient China, which changed and beautified the body. The arched-shoe is a physically and spiritually carrier of the footbinding. The arched-shoe and the footbinding together constituted the Chinese footbinding-culture. The bud and development of footbinding lasted over a thousand years, and the footbingding took root deeply in people's consciousness which was not only a obstinate behavior but also refracted some question of sociology, philosophy and aesthetics of ancient China. Both Chinese scholars and scholars in the world were interested in and had been researching the mysterious footbinding and fancy arch-shoe and many scholars. But the most mainly focus on the historic documentation researching, the forbidden movement and the arched-shoe collection, and the practicality research was approaching zero.The origin, develop, evolution of footbinding is discussed in this paper, and the practicality researching is the main part. The study is based on the 103 pairs of arched-shoe, which were collected in the Fork Costumes Biography Museum of Southern Yangtzee University and which were from the late Qing Dynasty till the Republic of China. The forms, colors, color matches, ornaments, structure and the main technology is discussed and summarized in the paper. A lot of photographs of arched-shoes collected in the Fork Costumes Biography Museum of Southern Yangtzee University are illustrated in this paper. And the conclusion is about the development of footbinding, about the forms, colors, structure of arched-shoe and so on.
