Discussing On The Marriage Between Qidan And Han Race In Liao Dynasty

Family is the cell of society and marriage is the link of the family. Marriage is the basis of promoting races' fusion, and marriage is the foundation of promoting the development of society steadily. However, Liao Dynasty, whose main part is Qidan aristocrat and important part is Han Dynasty, Xi Dynasty, Bohai Dynasty and so on, possess so many people of Han race, and this kind of population is increasing rapidly, at the same time, Liao Dynasty presented the aspect of the different races living together with each other. Therefore, among so many kinds of marriages, being related through marriage between Qidan race and Han race became the mainstream inevitably. Based on these reasons, discussing the marriage between Qidan and Han race is necessary when we do the research on the races' fusion in Liao Dynasty. This essay analyses the kinds of marriages between Qidan race and Han race in detail and then emphasizes that this kind of marriage promoted the development on the economy and culture. Meanwhile, this essay puts forward some special points and opinions, such as because of this kind of marriage, the form of the characteristic of the people in the north and after forming the new blood-relationship, the unobtrusive influence on the people in the north, the culture of Liao Dynasty and Han race.
