In china, western music system has taken the first place of present school music education; meanwhile the native music is still being"marginal", who leads"Chinese culture oriented music education"didn't implemented well. This phenomenon is caused partly by"western music first theory", but also a reflection of the lack of multidisciplinary reference of Chinese music education and the comprehension of music education as a culture medium. The paper shows an example of folk art's inheritance and spreading through the exploration of culture background, art forms, inheritance, spreading and artist's circumstance in fengzhuang of Shandong liaocheng octagonal-drum. And by the comparison between liaocheng octagonal-drum's inheritance and nowadays school music education we can know about difference between school music education and folk music inheritance and spreading. As a culture, music should be known and understood in its specific language circumstance, and for native music education this need of local culture environment is much bigger. Through the research of"marginal"music inheritance and spreading we can have a necessary introspection of present situation of Chinese school education. If we only focus on school music education, we may easily miss its developing tendency, and unable to be aware of its problems, no matter those had already appeared or potential ones. So, as a reference of school music education, I hope Liaocheng octagonal-drum's inheritance and spreading can give us some advices and inspire us about the future development of school music education.
