| From the late 1960s,a large-scale Chinese immigration began to accelerate, allowing American Chinese community evolves from an unprecedented demographic and social transformation from a bachelors' society to a family community.Nowadaysk,the intergenerational relationships in these families, especially the intergenerational conflicts between immigrant parents and their U.S.-born or U.S.-raised children,have drawn wide attention.This kind of conflict not only has features of normal generational gap,but also has features of intercultural communication.Based on the theoretical framework of discourse system and discourse analysis approach in intercultural communication,this thesis analyzes reports and interviews about intergenerational conflicts in immigrant Chinese family to explore the influence on intergenerational relationships from differences in cultural patterns and cultural values as well as different paces of acculturation under exotic region.Furthermore,some tangible solutions are also provided for family members from two generations to achieve a successful understanding and facilitate a better communication. |
