Study Of Prose Style Revolution In The 1990s

During the 1990s,there was persistent and unprecedented craze for prose.From the viewpoint of stylistics,at the lays of genre,type of writing and style,in this paper we describe the new change of prose style in this period,analysis various causes of the new change's production,and attempt to probe into the basic position of prose style and the trend of its future development on the above basis.Except for introduction and epilogue,there are four chapters in this paper.In Chapter One,we deal with the carding and definition of two basic concepts-literature style and prose,on the basis of carding style concept in both Ancient Chinese Essays and Western Stylistics,combined with the viewpoint of contemporary scholars,we think the intension of literature style can be divided into literature type,writing type and style three levels.As a kind of literature style,prose has always been a concept of mixed opinions as fuzzy boundary.In this paper,we analyze typical prose definition and make a conclusion of basic bound and feature of prose literature style.In Chapter Two,we make more effort on portraying the revolution of prose literature style of the 90s.At the lay of genre,polyphonic prose,long prose and a lot of essays have appeared in the 90s' prose.Cross-style writing became the general tendency and tide in this period.At the lay of writing type,revolution mainly appeared as language's sensation and individuality,more application of metaphor and irony,and intervening of "stream of consciousness" skill.At the lay of style, diversification and individuality became prevalent situation and pursue.In Chapter Three,we require into the causes of prose style revolution in 90s. Style revolution and prosperity of prose in 90s are closely related.Generally speaking, there are two reasons for the revolution,and on one hand,the author's prose concept changed,on the other hand,along with the change of social and cultural background, people's aesthetic requirement transmuted.In Chapter four,we discuss the prose's internal basic feature and the trend of future development.Freedom and reality are two unchangeable cornerstones of prose. People's different opinions do not lie in recognition or nonrecognition,but in how to understand freedom and reality.The prose style revolution in the 90s also signifies the possibility of the following prose's development,perfect unification of content and form,individuality and time characteristics,the influence to prose style from the new-type media and the promotion to prose creation from the theoretical criticism.And all of these possibilities will be very attractive.
