Analysis Of Ang Lee's Movies' Themes In Eastern And Western Background

Till now, Ang lee has had 10 movies done; English movies and Chinese movies are half and half. This thesis is based on the theme of the movies, like the chosen subject, the meaning of the movie, and different strategy of making a movie according to the different audience's background and knowledge, the characters that he made and the art expression comparison, in order for the complement of the analysis.This paper is based on the movie context, and focus on the father authority, the value of family, the human nature, and the identity of oneself. In the first chapter, we basically discuss the difference of father authority in eastern and western world; in the second chapter, we mainly discuss the difference of family value; and in the third and fourth chapter, we will talk about the human nature and the identity of oneself. And also, the shooting style, the background music, and the strategy of telling a story have always been the same way. Since the audiences'backgrounds are different, the subject and the culture aspect he chose are different. This is the main point of this paper.
