Wangjing , a famous movie director in Hong Kong . From the early 1980s on that he steped into the moviedom formally , he has taken part into the production of 250 movies or teleplays . He is the"No. 1 director of the highest box office"that can't be exceeded for his unique business operational method and written and directed style in Hong Kong moviedom . But the critics only see his vulgar sides in his film and think his movies are useless . However , no matter how they negative his film , he still has created a commercial miracle that in his working time of thirty years in moviedom , he has produced a lot of successful movies that earned much money on box office ; setted foot in almost every kind of film ; led the gambling film creation ; was one of the meritorious persons in"Wulitou film"in Hong Kong , and at the same time he made many big stars , much contribution to the film industry . The production of film is a industry , that means no money no film . Maby the commercial movies are not as exquisite as the art film , but if no prosperity of the commercial movies , the film industry can't have money to exist and the art film must vanish. So the penman thinks that do a detailed research on Wangjing's film is necessary .The paper is mainly divided into three parts :The first part is to neaten the different periods of Wangjing's film . From the 1981 to 2008 , Wangjing has experienced the progress ,the prosperity and the decline of the Hong Kong's film . And with the Hong Kong's film's prosperity and decline ,Wangjing's film at the same time had risen up and set down . Then this part studies that how the cultural groundwork of Hong Kong and the present age's mass consumerism effect the style of Wangjing's film . Hong Kong is a high developed commercial aera , the culture , the media , even the religion are operated with commercial methods , and sparkpluging consumerism and earning money is the people's purpose .So does the Wangjing's film . He expresses that he is a commercial film director and the money is his aim . So he must think about the mass needs with the biggest concern ,and the film that he produces must attract more people to watch .The second part is first discussing from the origin of commercial film :the production of film is a industry , then second an art . This part analyses why the commercial film is the mainstream of film industry ; then discussing the commercial film's specialties from that the film is a market art with the box office ; then the last section of this part is to research the Wangjing's film's commercial strategy from the Hong Kong's film commercial embodiment . There must be some reasons behind the Wangjing's film's success , so which commercial strategies are used in Wangjing's film to make his movies to attract more people and earn more money are the second part's main content .After analysing the commercial strategies of Wangjing's film , the third part is to analyse the narrative mode of Wangjing's film . Ultimately , Wangjing's film's narrative mode is the embodiment of the commercial pursuing . He uses the civilian narrative mode , chooses the city as the place that the story happens ; makes the story like a game , like a miracle ; the narrative structure is simple and easy to make more people can understand , and like to watch his film . From this we can see that maybe Wangjing can't innovate in narrative mode , but he can use the known mode very well . No matter what kind of narrative mode , if it is useful to make more money , Wangjing takes it and uses it in his film . Of course , just because of this , Wangjing's film has a lot of shortcomings , but this paper just analyses his success in the commercial side , learning a lesson and having some functions to the prosperity of the Chinese film industry .The last part of this paper is the epilogue that compares the film of director Fengxiaogang who is the"champion of the box office in mainland"with Wangjing's film . Because of the limitation of the penman , this question will be analysed detailedly in the future .
